Upper Dam Development

Early in September 2014, Francis breached the upper dam and diverted the stream to go straight to the rivulet rather than feeding the lower dam. We hired a twenty tonne excavator to clean out the dam area. We then started to hand excavate and water blast clean the rock.

Early in December 2014 we made a start on bricking the walls around the upper dam.

Early January 2015, Francis drilled the rock to put in reo bars. Tiling jobs as usual took us away from our project so by late February, we decided we needed help. We hired bricklayer, Mark to work on the dam walls and towers. Francis and I worked on building the walls around the island.

Another small excavator was needed to clean the edges down to rock. Again, Francis had to hand excavate and clean the rock. By April, 2015 we have walls on three sides of the dam.
