Mosaics for the Garden

Wall Mosaics

We intend to have mosaics covering all the walls.  I have made a start on a strip mosaic for the top of a straight Wave Wall between us and our neighbour Tom.  This mosaic has been made on mesh in the shed.  Francis's Mum did five lengths for us whilst she holidayed with us in 2013.  We have installed the two lengths I made and three of hers so far.

We still have a lot of this wall to build.

The front Wave Wall will be a bit more difficult as it waves in two directions.  The faces of this wall being curved will probably have to be mosaiced in situ.

We have plants in most of the gardens of the

Wave Wall which will also make the mosaicing more challenging.

Other garden mosaics include pots and sculptures.

Seat Mosaics

Incorporated in the Wave Wall gardens are several seats of differing shapes.

I have decided that each seat will have a different floral design.

The fist seat I have started a mosaic for is the Lilium seat.  I have mosaiced five of six liliums. When all flowers are finished I will lay them out on a table and work on the background as one.  Once all this is installed I can fill in the remaining background in situ.

Other flowers I wish to mosaic are wisteria, pansies and tulips.

Pathway Mosaics

Being tilers we bring home a lot of tile offcuts.  I am using these to make pathway mosaics.

We did our first pathway mosaic around our cottage.

I am now working on a mosaic for the pathway to the rivulet.

Francis's Dad also on holiday, prepared dozens of boxes of tiles for us - he had a 'smashing time'.

This mosaic is using thick floor tiles in white, grey and black and all the variations of these tones.

As we are lucky enough to have up to three platypus in our rivulet and dams we are using these images in this mosaic.
